In the debut feature by Thomas Trail, a neurotic young woman, Emily, becomes addicted to shoplifting. She attracts the attention of Nick, the security expert who watches the surveillance cameras at the department store. The two form an unlikely relationship, and when Nick is fired, they plan to rob the store together. The stakes are especially high because Nick is in debt to a Russian mobster.
Because of Winn Dixie
Abandoned by her mother when she was just three years old, 10-year-old India Opal has been raised primarily by her father, a Baptist preacher. When he relocates the family to a small Florida town, Opal has trouble adjusting, until the day her father sends her to the store to pick up a few necessities--and she comes back with a dog. Inspired by her large, friendly new pet, whom she names Winn-Dixie (after the store), Opal finds the means to reach out and make friends with some of her neighbors--many of whom feel as lost and lonely as Opal herself. Color illustrations accompany the text. BECAUSE OF WINN-DIXIE was named a 2001 Newbery Honor Book, a year 2000 New York Times Children's Notable Book, and one of the Best Children's Books 2000 by Publishers Weekly.

Truckers
They're four inches tall
in a human-sized world.
Under the floorboards of the Store is a world of four-inch-tall nomes that humans never see. It is commonly known among these nomes that Arnold Bros. created the Store for them to live in, and he declared: Everything Under One Roof. Therefore there can be no such thing as Outside. It just makes sense.
That is, until the day a group of nomes arrives on a truck, claiming to be from Outside, talking about Day and Night and Snow and other crazy legends. And they soon uncover devastating news: The Store is about to be demolished. It's up to Masklin, one of the Outside nomes, to devise a daring escape plan that will forever change the nomes' vision of the world. . . .
